Basic Instructor Training (BIT)

This BIT course is a PRE-REQUISTE in becoming an NRA Pistol Instructor. At the end of this course, you will possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to Organize & Conduct NRA Basic Firearms Training Courses.

NRA Basic Pistol Certification

✔ This is the second PRE-REQUISITE to become an NRA Pistol Instructor.
✔ (If you completed this course, you DO NOT need to attend on this date: MUST provide PROOF: Certificate of Completion for the NRA Basic Pistol Course)
✔ Attend April 4th for the BIT course if you have not completed it in the past 2 years, and attend Sunday, April 6th for the NRA Pistol Instructor Course.

What are the Requirements to Attend the NRA Pistol Instructor Course?
- Must be 21 and over
- Must have not been CONVICTED of ANY felonies, No Domestic Violence Convictions, No CURRENT Restraining Orders,
- Must be minimum a U.S Resident (green card), or Not be Prohibited from legally purchasing a firearm in the U.S
Pre-Requisites to Become an NRA Pistol Instructor?
- NRA Basic Instructor Training is required for all new Instructor candidates.
- You must have the Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within two years, or if it's over two years you will have to retake it again, which it's offered the same week. See Above schedule.
- Must have completed the Basic Pistol Course or you may take the same week of training.
Where will the NRA Pistol Instructor Course take place at?
Venue: At Public Safety Institute's training office

Where will the live-fire training and live-fire qualification take place?
You will be advised on the time and date of the range qualification. It will be during day 2 or 3.
There is a cost of $60 for the range fee payable at the range.
What is the required gear list for the classroom?
- Pen, pencil, highlighter, and a notebook. 2- or 3-inch binder.
- Wear appropriate attire, NO sandals or open toed shoes, NO shorts, NO Sweatpants.
What is the required gear list for the shooting range?
- Eye and Ear protection, if you do not own that gear, you may purchase and or rent at range.
- Your personal pistol
- 3 magazines with 3 Magazine Holders.
- 300 rounds of ammunitions, ammunition may be bought at the range.
- You are not required to own a pistol to attend this program. You may rent a pistol for use and qualification at the shooting range.
- Make sure to bring an Outside the waist gun Holster for dominant side.

You can reschedule for the next NRA Instructor course.

All of our classes/packages, and courses are final, no cancellations allowed, and no refunds issued once enrolled in any course(s), class(es), or any of our training programs. If you cannot attend on your scheduled date, you can attend at another date or transfer course to another person.
